Love Is In The Air

February 03, 2017

Even though the whole world celebrates 14th February as the day of love, for us, the bongs, Saraswati Puja is the most romantic day in the calendar. The day when every girl looks so beautiful draped in beautiful sarees. Well no matter how well she can carry off any outfit, for an Indian girl, she looks the most beautiful when she wears a saree. And it's not my opinion, it's a fact. It's so elegant, classy, beautiful and at the same time so feminine and sexy. It definitely brings out the woman in every girl.
I always used to think Saree is not for me, I am not beautiful enough to carry off a saree. But as I grow up more, I have started to realise it's all about the confidence. If you feel you can look beautiful in a saree, you automatically start looking beautiful in a saree. And honestly, I feel nowadays I look my best when I wear a saree.

For this year's Saraswati puja, I decided to go to my college and enjoy with my friends. I usually stay home every year since we have a puja at our place as well but then this is the time to enjoy college life and since we don't have too many celebrations in college, I decided to be a part of the Puja and the celebrations. It was really a lot of fun with college friends. One of the best Saraswati pujas for sure.
Coming to the outfit, I decided to wear a saree in pink and beige with black velvety borders. It's a simple saree but kind of goes with the theme, pink since it's the day of love and white and yellow are the theme colours for Saraswati Puja. It was a last moment decision, so I had to pair it up with a crop top. Yes, this beautiful black crochet thing is not a blouse, it's a crop top. I totally love how it complements the saree. For my jewellery, I borrowed a pearl set and a pearl bracelet from Mum and for my footwear I wore simple sandals with embroidery on it. This outfit was really comfortable and easy to carry. I could roam about in it throughout the day, in fact I danced in this outfit and I didn't feel uncomfortable at all unlike other times when I wear heavy saree and jewellery with high heels and I can barely move.

A huge thanks to my girls who clicked these pretty photographs. I seriously didn't plan to shoot this outfit but I totally love how these pictures turned out to be. This post is dedicated to the four of you. 😘

Also, as I said, I am getting more fond of sarees every passing day, so I would really love to post more saree or traditional outfits on the blog. Do let me know what do you think about that.

Love,
Sumelika ♥
