Dress - Perfect, Shoes - Love them, Make-up - On Fleek, Hair - Why Lord Why!!

Does it ever happen to you, when you have something really important and everything about your look is perfect except for the hair. It won't just listen to you. Well I have faced this situation a lot of times. No matter how much I style it, it won't stay like that for long and eventually turn frizzy. If you read my blog or follow me on Instagram you know I have really dry hair and skin. Somehow, my skin is still manageable but my hair is very unpredictable. Due to excessive styling and not taking proper care of my hair, my long thick hair turned into a huge mess with incessant hairfall and uncountable split ends making it dull, dry and lifeless. I had to chop it off. But soon, I realised that is not enough. So, I started with a very easy, hassle free and affordable haircare routine and my hair quality has improved a lot since then. So, here I am sharing everything I do to take care of my hair.

Simple Haircare Routine For Dry Hair And Split Ends

Hot Oil Treatment

One of the many lessons I have learnt in my life is that always listen to your mother. I was a person who would run away if my mother tried to oil my hair. But I realised there's no replacement for oil when it comes to haircare.

So what I do is take the following oils:

1. Coconut Oil:
For hair growth, thickening, strength and shine.
What I am using: Parachute Aloe Vera enriched Coconut hair oil which costs Rs. 90/- for 250 ml.

2: Jojoba Oil:
To prevent hair drying and breakage and clear scalp of sebum.
What I am using: Dr. Batra's hair oil enriched with Jojoba. 100 ml for Rs. 125/-

3. Almond Oil:
For nourishment and strength and shine.
What I am using: Patanjali Almond Hair Oil. 100 ml for Rs. 50/-

4. Amla Oil:
For conditioning and hair growth.
What I am using: Patanjali Kesh Kanti Alma Hair Oil. 100 ml for Rs. 40/-

5. Argan Oil:
Makes hair soft, smooth, silky. Works best for frizzy hair and split ends.
What I am using: Dove Elixir Hibiscus and Argan Oil. 90 ml for Rs. 185/-

6: Olive Oil:
Makes hair soft and manageable, fights split ends and dandruff, nourishment.
What I am using: Aroma Magic Olive Oil. 100 ml for Rs. 170/-

7. Castor Oil:
For hair growth, prevents drying of hair.
What I am using: Aroma Magic Castor Oil. 100 ml for Rs. 100/-

Okay before you think this is a sponsored post, let me tell you it's not. First of all, these oils are super cheap, easily available (got them all in Nykaa), long lasting, and most importantly they work like magic on my hair. But you can buy from any brand available in the market.

So, what I do is take 1 tbsp of each oil in a bowl and keep it in the microwave for a minute. Depending upon your hair length and thickness you can adjust the amount of each oil but try to take all of them equally.

-While the oil is heating, take that time to brush your hair with a wide toothed comb.
-Massage the oil into your scalp slowly and efficiently.
-Make sure it covers the whole of your scalp.
-Take the remaining oil in your palm and rub it gently throughout the length of your hair.
-Once done, tie your hair into a bun. You can keep it overnight if your skin is normal to dry. If your skin is oily and prone to pimples, keeping it for 1 hour before washing is enough.

I do my hot oil treatment twice every week.

Homemade Hair Mask

1 Egg: You can use both the egg white and yolk for dry hair.
2 Tbsp Honey
2 Tbsp Any Hair Oil (I generally use the coconut hair oil or the argan oil).

1 egg is more than enough for me. Keeping the ratio same you can take all the ingredients as much as your hair needs.

Mix all the ingredients together. Starting from you scalp, massage it all over your hair. I keep my hair open so that it dries faster. I wash my hair after 2 hours.

I follow this once month. This is actually messy plus the smell of the egg is disgusting. But adding honey kind of nullifies the smell so it becomes bearable. Also, you can add 4-5 drops of lime to the mixture. Lime clears the scalp and also nullifies the smell of the egg.
Even though the smell sucks,  the reason I still do it because it makes my hair super soft, smooth and manageable.

Shampoo And Conditioning

Until 2 months back, I didn't know there is a right way to shampoo your hair.
So what you should do is just shampoo your scalp and go only till the length of hair upto the earlobes. Wash the rest of the length with the lather of the remaining shampoo as you pour down the water on your hair. Basically you are cleaning your rest of the hair with diluted shampoo when you do that.
After that when you condition, start from below the earlobes and go till the tip of your hair. Do not even think of going up to the scalp. use generous amount of conditioner.
What I do is make my hair into a bun after I put conditioner and keep it like that for 10 minutes at least. After which I rinse my hair off.

The shampoo and conditioner I use are BBlunt Intense Moisture Shampoo and Conditioner, For Seriously Dry Hair. I bought the combo for Rs. 1000/- at Nykaa.

My Special Recommendation

Simple Haircare Routine For Dry Hair And Split Ends, ogg organ oil

After My hair is dry I use Renewing+  Argan Oil By Morocco Weightless Healing Dry Oil By ogx. This is the best hair product ever. You just need to spray it on your hair when it's dry. Doesn't matter if it's shampooed or not. And your hair looks so much better instantly.  It costs Rs. 725/- for 118ml but it is totally worth it.

-Always use a cotton cloth to dry your hair. You can use an old T-Shirt.
-Don't brush your hair when wet.
-Don't use heat much. Like I have styled my hair 3-4 times max in the last 2-3 months.
-Braid your hair while you sleep.
-Treat your hair like a baby.

So that's all I do to take care of my hair. It's a very simple routine and works great for a lazy and also busy (doing nothing) person like me. I am not saying I have got the best hair in the world but this routine has made my hair 100 times better and healthier. So, I hope this post helps you girls out there. And do let me know if you try any of the methods and how it worked out for you.
